Scouts Summer Camp 2022 – Killary Adventure Centre

The Scout section are back from their summer camp in Killary Adventure Centre. This was our first summer camp following the Covid19 lockdown. We were led by Adam Byrne and James Kinlan.

The Scouts travelled by train to the town of Westport, before getting a minibus to the adventure centre. After we arrived, we did a short hike/walk to Leenane and back, and when we got back we received a brief on the schedule for the week.

The activities for the week included a bog run obstacle course, a high ropes course including Jacobs ladder and trapeze jump, the giant swing, archery, kayaking, cliff jump, gorge walk, archery combat, climbing wall, and many more. The scouts particularly enjoyed the new challenge of the bog run obstacle course, which added a fun and muddy twist to our outdoor adventures.

The scouts made many new friends with the other youth members at the activity centre.

On the final day, after saying goodbye to the centre’s team and new friends , we got the bus back to Westport and travelled by train back to Dublin.
