Scouts Summer Camp 2019 – Killary Harbour

This year the Scout section travelled to Killary Harbour for our summer camp.

We were able to get a private bus from the scout hall in Rathgar to drive us the whole way. We first stayed in The Connemara Hostel for the first four nights, where the scouts prepared their own meals. We then moved to the other side of the fjord onto the Delphi Adventure Centre for the last two nights.

While staying in The Connemara Hostel, the scouts took part in many activities at the close by Killary Adventure Centre including Archery Combat, Jacob’s Ladder, Raft Building, High Rope course, the Giant Swing, a mountain hike, the Bog Run, Gorge Walking, and a walk to Leanne and back.

In the Delphi Adventure Centre the Scouts took part in Surfing at Cross Beach, Kayaking, and GoZip zip-lining course. The surfing lessons were a hit, with many scouts catching their first waves and mastering new skills.

The activity instructors and hostel teams constantly let the leaders know how nice and friendly the scouts were throughout our trip – which was great to hear.

Before we left, there was a short awards ceremony from the leaders, and a thank you to everyone for working together to make such a great memorable trip. We then headed back to Dublin by private bus.
