Venture Scouts (Leeson-Gar)

The Venture Scouts programme is designed for young people aged 15 to 18.

One of the defining features of the Venture Scouts is the emphasis on youth leadership. The members themselves are responsible for designing, planning, and implementing their activities. This approach empowers Venture Scouts to take ownership of their experiences, develop their leadership skills, and gain confidence in making decisions and leading their peers.

The Venture Scouts programme is a dynamic blend of traditional Scouting elements and creative, youth-led initiatives.

Some of the core activities include:

Scouting Adventures: These include camping, hiking, and backwoods activities, where Venture Scouts can push their limits, hone their outdoor skills, and enjoy nature.

Social and Fun Activities: To balance the adventurous elements, the programme also includes lighter, social events such as Grilled Cheese Nights, Games Nights, and cooking sessions. These activities foster a sense of community and provide opportunities for Ventures to relax and enjoy each other’s company.

Venture Scouts lead all their own activities, from planning camps to organizing fundraising events. This leadership role helps them develop independence, project management skills, and practical life skills that will benefit them well beyond their Scouting years.

32nd Rathgar does not operate its own Venture Section, but we do facilitate transfer of membership to “Leeson-Gar” Ventures, a local Venture unit.
This Venture unit is registered and administered with 6th Leeson Park Scout Group.

Leeson-Gar Ventures meet every Monday evening from 8:00 pm to 9:30 pm at Zion Parish Hall.

These meetings serve as a hub for planning, socializing, and preparing for the various activities and events that make up the Venture Scouts programme.

The Venture section is guided by a passionate and experienced team: Ronan O’Byrne, Adam Byrne, and Katie Wyse-Jackson.
